Patience Rodriguez wins Customer Service E Award

Select Vacation Properties is proud to announce that Patience Rodriguez was the recipient of the Honorable Mention award at the 2018 Elaine McLaughlin Hospitality Service Awards.  The awards are held annually by the News-Press and the Lee County Visitors and Convention Bureau to recognize those within the hospitality and allied industries who positively impact a visitor or resident’s experience in Lee County.

Patience is the head of owner relations and the senior reservation coordinator at Select Vacation Properties on Sanibel Island, Florida, and an example of what all of the team at Select Vacation Properties aspire to be not just as a customer service representatives, but as a caring human beings. Patience received the award due to her extraordinary customer service and assistance.

In October of 2017 Select Vacation Properties had guests check-in for a family vacation on Sanibel. On the first day of their stay, the teenage granddaughter complained of not feeling well, and rapidly developed headaches, fever and seizures. She was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with acute Cerebral Meningitis and was soon in a coma. She was transferred to critical care in Miami. During the next several weeks Patience maintained constant contact with the family, providing assistance when needed, guidance, advice and moral support. She helped with the family’s travel insurance claims, allowing them to focus on family. Even when the Insurance company initially denied their claim, patience advocated and fought on their behalf, eventually obtaining a settlement for them. When the granddaughter was still hospitalized in Florida after their reservation had expired, Patience arranged for accommodations for the family free of charge until she was well enough to be transported home. Eventually in early November, the sick girl was transported home to Indiana via care flight, where she was hospitalized, but eventually recovered.  Patience continues to stay in touch with the family, and hopes to see them return to Sanibel again soon.
