Shell Island Beach Club 5D is a vacation rental condo on Sanibel Island. Shell Island Beach Club #5D offers Breathtaking Beach Front views throughout the 2 bedroom condo. The complex offers a heated swimming pool, spa, bikes on-site, tennis, shuffleboard, grilling area, and outdoor showers. Enjoy all the comforts of home in this spectacular well-equipped condo. This condo is on the 2nd floor offering amazing views of the Gulf of Mexico. No elevator in the building.

Very Important to note that Shell Island Beach Club is opening up October 2024. Please note that construction is still taking place on the premise. No amenities, (i.e. pool or tennis). You will have access to your condo and the beach. Rates reflect current conditions. Our goal is to be transparent. Please know your support is part of our recovery.*

"Overall the unit was great and would stay again. It was clean, the decor was nice and the screened in balcony with the beautiful panoramic view was the best part. The unit had just about everything you needed to enjoy time with family at the beach or inside the unit. There were a couple minor things that need improvement like the drain in the master shower and there were issues with the smoke alarm going off. The pull out couch bed was so much more comfortable than typical metal frame ones. We loved our stay as a family!

3 weeks at Shell Island

"We have been to this unit before and have booked it for next year, before I start I have to say that the staff and service at Select Vacation are the best, super service and can’t be more helpful. However, considering how long the unit was closed for refurb after hurricane Ian we were disappointed that the interior was virtually unchanged, the furnishings were the old ones and getting tired, couldn’t even see any new paint. The bed linen in the main bedroom was shabby and had a blood stain on the undersheet, tired and very unFlorida appearance, shame , but still the best view from any of the other units. Would be nice if a little more had been spent to improve the interior. Again can’t praise the Select staff enough

Sanibel retreat

"The condo was clean and well equipped and the location was ideal for us, with gorgeous views of the Gulf and beach. Renting bikes from Billy's gave us easy access to most of the island. There are signs everywhere of ongoing recovery efforts after Hurricanes Ian, Milton and Helene, but there were plenty of restaurants and shops open and we enjoyed visiting them.

"The Location, unit overall appearance, unit size and view of beach is great. Main bed is comfortable but very high off the floor. As far as cleanliness goes, all appeared ok except the tile floors were not cleaned, caused my bare feet to turn black with dust and dirt. The grounds are still under renovation due to past hurricanes but it was understood when renting. BBQ Grills are now available.

"Once we arrived at our destination our contact Leigh Ann was so accommodating. Now granted we didn't pick the best time to visit Sanibel. Milton came at the same time. "Check in was a breeze. The unit was clean and had all the appliances you could need. The view was amazing. It was steps from the beach or the pool, located on the property. You are walking distance to the Lighthouse or to shops & Ice Cream store. Bikes are provided for free & you can take them everywhere!

"Shell Island is at the quiet end of Sanibel and our condo was closest to the beach. Everything is very relaxed and laid back. The view from the Lanai each day is spectacular and the unit is perfect for a family of up to 6, 4 being more comfortable. There is something for everyone on Sanibel and this is a great spot to experience it all from.

"Our family of four has stayed before at Shell Island Beach Club. We like the east island location near the lighthouse. Condo has nice views of the sea and it's a wonderful place to relax. We have gone end of August or labor day time so I can't speak for the high season, but at this time it's very HOT and nice thunderstorms in the evening. We vacation all over the world and there's something peaceful about Sanibel. The shells, turtles, many shorebirds, low rise buildings, that keep it on my list of favorites.

Perfect first time vacation at Shell Island Beach Club

"We had a fabulous stay at Shell Island Beach Club, mainly due to the amazing condo, it was beautiful. The panoramic view was superb- beautiful at any time of the day or evening no matter what the weather. The condo was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, everything was to a high standard even the beach chairs that were provided. The location was very near to the pool and beach and there were bbq grills available for guests to use. The only slight downside is the lack of an elevator and with the apartment being on the top floor, if you had mobility difficulties this would be a challenge, particularly if you had luggage to carry up the stairs. It was fine for us and would not put us off staying again but it is worth noting - the lack of elevator was made clear at time of booking. All in all I would say that this is a perfect holiday rental and well managed by Select Vacation Rentals - Nadia was particularly helpful.

"This condo is lovely. We definitely recommend it. Select Vacation Properties is very professional and provide excellent service. This is our 4th year at Shell Island, but our first year in 5D. We plan to return again next year. Just a few items need upgrading such as bathroom and kitchen towels, kitchen knives, the coffee pots, and bed sheets. The ceiling fans all need to be serviced, as they make a lot of noise when they are set on the faster speeds. The door to the commode area of the master bath needs repair - it doesn't close, and the vent fan in the commode area doesn't work. The washer and dryer work great. These are minor things that we understand can lose quality over the busy rental season; however, they're the little things that make a week-long stay much more enjoyable for the cost of the rental. We love the location of the rental property. The view of the ocean is fabulous. An elevator would be helpful, especially for more elderly vacationers. Getting luggage and groceries up 3 flights of stairs is difficult. We highly recommend Doc Ford's for lunch or dinner. Traders is a wonderful place for dinner, as well. Cip's is fabulous, although we didn't make it there this year, opting instead for Traditions. The food here was excellent. On the Friday night we were there, they had a piano player and a sax player playing light "elevator" music. It took us back to the vacation resorts of the 50's and 60's, but don't let that worry you. It was a very enjoyable evening even for our 19 year old daughter.

"Beautiful condo. Amazing views from King suite and living area including living room, dining area and kitchen. Great screened in balcony. Condo had everything we needed. To get these amazing views you are on the top floor so you do need to walk up a couple flights of steps but for us it wasn't a big deal. The rental company was very easy to work with.

Beautiful Condo

"Remodeled and well done. Pretty colors and the closest to the boardwalk coming back from the beach and to the pool. Equipped with beach chairs, a cooler, beach towels and an umbrella. So save weight in your suitcase if flying ;)
The umbrella was broken however the beach was nice and windy so we were ok.
The bed broke upon our arrival but the handyman came quickly to fix the issue. I believe this was mainly done by prior guest shoving suitcases underneath the bed repeatedly and breaking the foot joints.
Fans can be changed or renewed, they were pretty loud. Dishes were put away dirty so we had cleaned them as we took them out to use them. Overall though-it was a nice stay.

Great location and lots of amenities

"Beautiful overlook of ocean on screen porch. The condo was very clean and fresh. The resort is very friendly and there are tons of bikes in every size to borrow. All kinds of tennis/pickle ball/ shuffle board equipment to check out and beach chairs and umbrellas you can check out for the week with a deposit.
Couple of disappointments were- Despite the cleanliness of the condo, the screens and windows were quite dirty.The beach towels are few and thin. Nothing is left in the condo. Two packages of laundry detergent and 4 packs of dishwasher detergent. However, you’re only allowed to leave the maids two loads of laundry on checkout?? No spices just salt and pepper.

"We have been renting condos on Sanibel for 25 years and this is the nicest one yet. The condo has a great view, easy beach access and covered parking. It's recently remodeled and it's beautiful.

Quiet, East End Location

"Shel Island 5D provided a great vacation condo for my family of 5. You can't beat the east end location and the pool at Shell Island is one of the best around. The beds were comfortable. If you're a foodie like me and enjoy cooking, the kitchen is likely to disappoint. While it was satisfactory, the knives were all dull and the layout was clumsy with a small food prep area and a poorly located garbage can. Also, the door to the laundry area was difficult to open and close, while several of the lights in the master did not work properly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay since we were really there for the weather, the pool, and the beach.

"This condo was amazing! You can tell it was recently updated, so everything is new, clean, and tastefully decorated. The condo was just a short walk to the beach with the pool in between. We stayed here with our 3 kids and they all enjoyed their stay. The main office rents bikes, umbrellas, and beach chairs. The pool had lots of toys for them to play with. There were not many beach items in the condo itself (2 chairs, a small umbrella, and 2 beach towels) but enough to get us started. The condo is well equipped with kitchen essentials like pots, pans, new dishes, and a coffee pot (there are plenty of filters so you shouldn't need to purchase those). The very best part of the condo was the screened in porch with the best ocean view! There were mosquitos when we were there, but we were able to enjoy the view because of the screened in porch. I wouldn't want to stay somewhere without that feature. The water was great during our stay with loads of sand dollars in the ocean and lots of shells, but not so many we had to wear shoes. You do have to pick your keys up and return in a different location, but it wasn't that big of a hassle (although it would be nice to have the ability to just leave the keys there at check out instead of driving them the other direction from the airport, but again, not a big deal. The customer service with the rental company was outstanding during the rental process, we thankfully did not need to contact them with any issues during our stay.

"First time at Shell Island Beach Club. The grounds, buildings and condos are beautiful! Pool area has plenty of chairs, loungers and some shaded tables. Adults and kids loved to spend several hours hanging out, catching up and planning activities. Beach is not crowded is very safe for little ones. Business office onsite offers beach chairs, umbrella's and towels for rent.

"This top floor condo is lovely - the high ceilings in the living area make it feel so large and bright. The view is beautiful and Shell Island Beach Club is in a quieter section of the island, so very peaceful when there which is a reward after sitting in the slow high-season traffic to get home. "Select Vacation Properties does a great job, have rented from them many times. Courteous, professional and knowledgeable about the property. Two issues that could be improved - one is the delivery of the keys for the unit. Our unit is on east end of the island and we are required to drive about 10 or 15 minutes each way on arrival to the rental office dealing with island traffic to get the keys to the unit. Would be much preferred if they can have the keys on site at the property for us upon arrival. Same goes for returning the keys on departure. Second issue is that the unit is rented by Select Vacation but managed on site by Shell Island Beach Club, whose people, one in particular, is difficult to deal with and has an attitude. Important to stress this is NOT a Select Vacation person (they are all great) but still takes away from the experience.

Gorgeous view, modern decor

"A great gulf view was our number one criteria for a vacation condo and this unit did not disappoint! Calm-inducing sounds and scenery could be seen while getting ready in the master bath or preparing breakfast in the kitchen. It was obvious that this unit was recently remodeled and it was done very well with modern decor and upscale furnishings. We had all of dishes and other kitchen accessories we needed as well as plenty of towels and washcloths. Accessing the complimentary bikes and beach towels at the property office was very easy and the staff there was super-friendly. The stairs were not a problem but for some, it may be an issue that there is no elevator to this top floor unit. I would not recommend it for anyone that has any issue with stairs at all.
We're pretty picky about how clean a place is and I was pleasantly surprised by how well-cleaned it was. It felt like it was brand new. Select Vacations was easy to book through - accommodating to our schedule and had a great after-hours key pick-up and drop-off. We would happily rent through Select again and happily rent this unit again!

Unit 5D in Shell Island Beach Club on Sanibel Island

"Unit was very comfortable and decor was so nice. View is awesome from living, master bedroom, and especially from screened porch. Board walk to beach is close and the beach is so nice and not crowded. Each morning on our beach walks we would see a variety of sea life and shells, some with living creatures which is so different from other beaches we've stayed on in Florida. Love the Island and spent time at Tarpon Bay, fishing from a pontoon boat and kayaking and visiting the Nature Refuge. Great restaurant which has early specials is Traders. We have been to Island several times and will keep coming back and would definately recommend the Unit we stayed in.

"This Condo is awesome!! Very clean! Updated decor right on the beach! Only compliant is that we had to put a deposit down to rent chairs, umbrella, beach towels! Also, the washer is very loud! Would of liked to have scissors on hand and trash bags and toilet paper! Oh and I guess we r use to HOT water I thought the water was not hot enough the whole trip! Just a few little things but overall very super nice condo!!

"This is our third time at this property and we would be likely to return. The location is quiet, clean, staff are so kind and friendly. The only thing that would be difficult for some people are the stairs.. I must mention I did see elevators installed on some units. The pool and spa area was alway clean and pleasant. The landscaping is gorgeous, love how everything is identified on a little marker.

Shell Island Vacation

"This was a girls getaway. I, my 2 daughters & my infant granddaughter spent the week. A couple of odd things. Flannel sheets on the King bed. Miserable. The soaps provided were of the 1950s motel variety. (We did a Publix run) the cookware was dilapidated & the lack of cereal bowls irritating. The view was spectacular! When we had a storm, there was no way to get the water off the balcony. Bummer for half the week. I hope the furnishings can be updated and the dishes & cookware can be brought up to the level of the nice countertops. The location levels any complaints. Beautiful views, loved the saltwater pool, great staff at property & at Select. Thank you for your gracious hospitality!

"Had a wonderful time in Sannibel. Beautiful island.loved the use of the bicycles at the condo. Suggestions for the property- have more storage ,ie,dresser in the smaller bedroom,more hanger for the closet. Felt there was very limited places to place clothing especially in the smaller bedroom. Beautiful facilities,pool,hot tub,and beach access. All in all a good experience.

Perfect Family Vacation Spot

"The condo is located close to the beach and pool, and has beautiful ocean views. We had a wonderful family vacation with our 3 kids. The pool is large, and has steps along an entire side, which were great for our youngest to play on. The pool never seemed crowded, and there is plenty of seating. The beach path is well maintained, and the shelling was wonderful as expected. The grills are nearby, and we used them for dinner every night of our stay.
One of the best ice cream spots on the island is within walking distance too!

Loved the location, but 5D is in need of updating

"We love Shell Island Beach Club. The pool is great for small children with its wide steps entry. It is great being so close to the lighthouse. Happily, we spent a lot of time at the pool & beach and in Unit 5C with other family members. The limited seating on the lanai (2 chairs) is inconvenient, although the view is so lovely. We appreciated the beach umbrella & sand toys in the guest closet.
